LOOSE PARTS PLAYGROUND @ PRIMARIA
We're looking for support from our community to fund a Loose Part Playground at our Bonham Primary campus to encourage creativity, problem-solving, and collaboration among students.
INSPIRATION
In the best selling book “The Anxious Generation”, Jonathan Haidt emphasizes the importance of unstructured, independent play for children's mental health and development. Haidt advocates for the implementation of "loose parts" playgrounds—environments equipped with materials like wood, tires, ropes, and other open-ended resources that children can manipulate and transform. These settings encourage creativity, problem-solving, and collaboration among peers. Importantly, this allows children to take responsibility for their actions and decisions, which fosters a sense of autonomy and competence.
